Running Should Be Fun

I look forward to December every year. Partly because Costco always has enormous pumpkin pies in stock. And partly because I get to put on the Baker's Dozen Half Marathon. I feel like it's my way to give a little back to the running community which has given me so much.

I continued my tradition from last year and decided to be race director / Buddy the Elf. I've come to realize that it takes a moderate degree of comfort in your manhood to wear bright yellow tights.

It's hard to put into words so much fun. So much laughing. So much jumping. (And so much sugar.) These pictures from our amazing photographer Alex Santiago make it hard to deny how much fun running can be.

An enormous help behind the scenes was Cherie Santiago. She's not a bad jumper either. Just looking at this picture makes me wince.

Some people like Rebecca here came from Denver for the race:

More pictures of happiness:

All this fun was topped off with some shiny bling:

I'll have a full race report up in a day or two. But in the mean time.....go run. And have a really good time. Because running should be fun.

  8. Running is definitely fun if there is sugar involved. Running is even more fun if the Reese family is involved. Thanks for putting on such a great event. Your wife is absolutely adorable and I LOVED her outfit. I hope you post pictures of that in your post. Cherie hit it right on the head in a comment she left me. She said she loves the bond that is felt at this race and I TOTALLY AGREE! There is such a great spirit of friendship and happiness throughout every loop. What a fun day!! Already looking forward to doing it again next year.
