How To Display Race Medals

We had this little problem in our bedroom. Our race medals were hanging on this little shelf but this little shelf isn't very strong and we worried that if we added too much more bling, our shelf would end up on the ground.

So I got ambitious for Christmas this past year. I wanted to make Mel a plaque that would 1) be big enough to hold a picture, 2) be sturdy enough to hold lots of medals, and 3) be easy to add medals.

I went to every hardware store in the area to get ideas for the construction and eventually realized that it may be a big project considering my limited experience in building stuff. So I figured I'd make two while I was putting the work in.

And here.....are the finished products hanging on our bedroom wall!

  1. Wow those look awesome!

  2. very cool. i'v ebeen trying to figure out what to do withours. that's a great idea. i thought of using the boston and st george marathon posters and doing something, but i like the personal pictures. can you teach tom?

  3. Wow the photo you chose for your wife was the poop shoe photo, how did she feel about that?

  4. I'd be happy to show Tom how I made them. If I can do it, anyone can.

Yea, I debated on the poop shoe photo. In the end it was just too funny. I couldn't pass it up.

BUT....I built them so the pictures are held on by magnets and can be changed. One day the poop shoe photo will be replaced.

  5. Very cool! Found my way over here from a post you left on my blog...I'm going to see about making something like this!

  6. Wow, that's way better than my ziploc on the counter of my bathroom for years on end method!!

That is cool! Maybe the kids can make them and have their own booth selling? Instead of lemonade stands, my parents run and this is our college fund. So simple, yet you've put together the solution for a pix and the medals. Love it, and your joy! Never realized the Jumps were so tough! Cher makes it look like she's part TIGGER...

Hope you make your goals! It forces us to evaluate our own! The other day, third walk, 4.3 miles, next day 2.2, legs LEAD JELLO! :)
