My Favorite Running Shoe Ever: Altra Lone Peak

I have run in many different shoes over the years but one stands out above all the others: the Altra Lone Peak 1.5 shoes.

I keep some of my old pairs of running shoes for yard work and after wearing the Lone Peaks I honestly can't believe that those old shoes were comfortable. All the Altra shoes are zero drop meaning that there is no drop from the heel to the toe. But don't confuse that with being minimal. The Lone Peak has plenty of cushion to keep feet happy.

For me the two biggest selling points were 1) the wide toe box with lots of room for your toes to spread out to keep your feet comfortable and decrease blisters, and 2) the tread on the bottom of the shoes. They have great grip to handle everything from smooth to the most technical trails.

I have worn them for entire 100 mile races and never had any issues. It's an honor to help represent a company that puts out such awesome shoes. Run (and jump) on my friends!

  1. Are they strictly for trail running or do they work well on the road too?

    1. The tread is definitely more suited to trails but I sometimes run on the road with them too. I also have the Altra Instinct 1.5 which feels very comfortable but is more suited to roads. Thankfully all the Altra shoes have that wider toe box which I LOVE.

  3. We don't get them here in SA, but I know how great it is to have a "no hassles shoe". I also go for bigger and wider toe boxes. That is the key for me.

  4. I LOVE Altra's. I won't run in anything else now. I've had the Lone Peak's, the Torin's, the 3-Sums, the Intuition 1.5's, and another pair I can't recall the name of right now. But my current favorite pair is the Intuition 2.0's. They are amazing for road running!! Zero drop really is amazing to help with form, injuries, etc. :)
That last pic is an epic Lone Peak pic! haha

    1. Oh, and for me all the women's sizes run one size small. I wear a size 7 in normal shoes and a size 8 in all of my Altra's (but that seems to be the case for a lot of running shoes).

  5. I do wear two different pairs of shoes when I workout, I wear my running shoes for flat feet when I'm running then I pack another pair of training shoes for my weight training or NTC sessions. So please please just take a look at what you are wearing and get in a training shoe. You will get so much more out of your session I promise!

  6. Extremely intriguing online journal. A lot of web journals I see nowadays don't generally give anything that I'm keen on, however I'm most definitely inspired by this one. Recently felt that I would post and let you know. the style shoes
